Connect a digital camera
Downloading photos from your digital camera
The usual way would be to install the device driver for the camera in Windows XP. However, this is not possible at ICTP. If we allowed users to install arbitrary device drivers it would compromise system security and the software maintenance would soon become unmanageable.
Hence the only options are the following:
- Try using Linux. Many camera models are detected automatically by the system and a program is started allowing you to download the photos.
- Let the camera behave like an external hard disk ("mass storage"). This is often the default.
