Can I install this software or device driver?
It is not possible to install any software into Windows on the public computers, neither application programs nor device drivers. Only long-term visitors and resident scientists (who have a computer assigned to them) can ask the Helpdesk to do this.
In Linux it is often possible to install software into a user's home directory without having any additional privileges. Also, many hardware devices connecting to the USB port (e.g. digital cameras) can be used without driver installation.
