BRAINY MATTERS

The EU Advanced Course in Computational Neuroscience, co-sponsored by ICTP and the European Union (EU), will take place from 23 August to 17 September. The course will consist of classroom lectures and laboratory work designed to help advanced students explore the methodological complexities of computational neuroscience. Issues to be discussed include neural organisation and subcellular processes. Computer modelling and state-of-the-art analytical techniques will be used to examine the functional organisation of biological nervous systems. Reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of the topic, students attending the course will come from a variety of disciplines, including theoretical physics, neuroscience, computer science, electrical engineering and psychology.
