Public lecture on Nanotechnology

Visiting scientist to talk about the applications of nanotechnology in therapeutics

ICTP’s Applied Physics section will hold a seminar on the applications of nanotechnology in therapeutics on 3 June 2009. The seminar, which is part of a series of lectures on Physics of the Living State, will be conducted by Dr. Sangeeta Kale. Dr. Kale, associate professor in electronics at Fergusson College, Pune, India, will talk about the preparation of nanomaterials and their use in therapeutic applications, including drug delivery, cancer treatment, and diabetes control. Dr. Kale and her research group’s work includes developing superparamagnetic nanoparticles for hyperthermia cancer treatments, nanomaterial-coated chemotherapy drugs, and antidiabetic strategies.

Dr. Kale, who is a visiting scientist at ICTP, says her research has received extensive literature back-up from the ICTP library, and her association with ICTP has given her an opportunity to interact with ELETTRA, a synchrotron light laboratory in Trieste.

Dr. Kale’s seminar will be held in the Oppenheimer meeting room of ICTP's Leonardo Da Vinci building at 15.30.
